Vegan hot cross buns

A recipe perfected by Irene, make your own vegan hot cross buns!

 

Recipe Allergies

Directions:

  • 1.Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl
  • 2.Melt the butter and mix the milk in - must be room temp.
  • 3.Combine the dry and wet mix and knead for 5 - 10 min, let the dough rise for 1.5 - 2hrs in a bowl with a covering cloth - until double in size. Then knead the dough down.
  • 4.Create 12 balls and place them on a baking sheet to let rise till double in size.
  • 5.Mix the crosses ingredients together until it forms a pipeable paste then pipe the crosses on with a nozzle and piping bag.
  • 6.Bake at 180 degrees for 25 minutes
  • 7.Glaze it with some slightly watered down syrup or jam while still warm.

Ingredients - buns:

  • 500g flour (1/2 cake and 1/2 bread flour)
  • 90g sugar of choice
  • 5ml Cinnamon
  • 5ml mixed spice
  • 5ml Oryx desert salt
  • 10g dried yeast
  • zest from 1/2 lemon
  • 95g Irene's Plant Based Butter
  • 315g plant milk / water
  • 250g dried fruit or choc pieces
  • 5ml apple cider vinegar

Ingredients - Crosses:

  • 25g flour
  • 30g water
  • glaze - syrup or jam
  • Ingredients - Spice mix:
  • 1 tsp all spice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
