A story about Irene’s Gourmet Founder, Irene…
Irene is a natural foodie; when she prepares a meal or product, she does so with knowledge, intuitive understanding & love.
Irene’s Gourmet grew from Irene’s passion for natural, Plant-Based ethical food that started in her home kitchen. The unplanned business grew quickly into a production premises. Running a food factory is incredibly hard work, Irene is at work at 6am every morning. She opens the factory doors with a prayer and follows with a sincere and dedicated day’s work, which she has been doing for the last seven years.
Irene is a strict boss lady and a loving mother figure to all. Her many demands include looking after her sixteen staff members and making sure every product is made perfectly with love. She remains intentional, making sure every aspect of the business gets her full attention. Her end goal is always to ensure that Irene’s products are filled with a hearty and healthy sustenance that will be enjoyed by every customer. Irene’s team works with a stubborn determination to make sure whatever needs to get done is done. Her motto as a true South African is “doen dit en kry klaar”.
Irene’s genuine and clear self-belief inspires confidence and has opened doors for Irene’s Gourmet with major retailers in single brief meetings. She is a mentor and has helped many of her staff and other businesses to grow into their full potential. It has been a marvel to see how many inexperienced young ladies arrived looking for work and have now become confident and capable woman under her tutorship.
A long and hard days work does not stop her from cooking a delicious healthy meal every night for her very fortunate family. Our home, like Irene’s Gourmet, is a place where many children, family and friends are freely welcomed and fed delicious and nutritious meals on tap. She is incredibly generous and kind with every ounce of available time and energy. I can honestly say few people fill a day with love, intentionality, and good food like she does.
Because of Irene, our lives and work experiences are filled with inspiration and a desire to better ourselves both personally and professionally. Not only does Irene care for nature, animals & sustainable living, but she genuinely cares for each person life brings along her path, constantly offering them advice, guidance, and nurturing.
